paintless dent repair

What Is Paintless Dent Repair?

Paintless dent repair is an environmentally friendly technique, requiring no harsh paints or chemicals, which saves vehicle owners hundreds...even thousands of dollars!

Whether you are at the ballpark and your car catches a fly ball, a careless shopper slams a shopping cart into your door, or hail pelts your car creating divots; We've got you covered!

Paintless Dent Repair involves massaging and finessing imperfections out of metal with highly specialized techniques and tools. It is an apprenticed trade and PDR techs consider themselves in the same realm as an artist. Once you have seen a professional PDR tech at work, you will know why they are sometimes referred to as "magicians".

Why Paintless Dent Removal vs. a body shop?

When you opt for Paintless Dent Removal, you preserve the factory paint job, maintaining the value of your vehicle and protecting against depreciation. Did you know repainting your car usually shows up on a vehicle history report? This can be bad news for your car's resale value when you go to sell.

If damage to your car is minimal, paintless dent repair can be performed well under your deductible without having to report the damage to your insurer and risk your insurance rates increasing.

How long does it take?

This is one of the great things about Paintless Dent Removal - It's so fast! For most small to medium-sized dents, the turnaround time is a few hours or less. That means no rental cars, no inconveniences and we come to you! It can be done while you are working, allowing you to keep your commitments stress-free.

How much does it cost?

Much less than body or paint work and cheaper than you might think! Because there are so many factors which go into assessing the labor involved to remove a dent, it is necessary for a dent tech to assess the dent to give a quote. To give a ballpark quote, it is best to send a photo so we can assess labor cost and time involved to repair the damage. Quotes can be finalized once the damage is viewed in person. Many factors go into determining cost such as  the location, depth, size of the dent, the type of metal involved, disassembly/assembly involved to access the dent, time investment involved, etc.

Do I really need a professional? They sell dent-removing gadgets!

When you see a good dent tech working, they make it look so easy. This gives the false impression that pulling dents is something anyone can do. So much irreparable damage can be done when attempting to remove a dent without the proper training, tools, and technique only taught by experience and many years of focused, attentive training. As the old adage goes, "Don't try this at home" or you could risk cracked paint, making the damage more extensive or pushing the dent beyond repair where it can only be salvaged through a body shop.

A guy approached me in the parking lot wanting to fix a dent super cheap. Is this legit?

Probably not. Nothing upsets legit dent techs more than the guys who have leached onto our industry as a way to make a quick buck scamming people. We've heard the horror stories and have seen the damage first hand. Please don't let these guys touch your car! They end up turning a dent repair that should have been under a few hundred dollars into a few thousand dollar problem.

As of now, there is still no licensing for our industry. It is up to individual techs to invest thousands into education including knowing basic engineering, properties of metals, the correct tools to do the job, the correct techniques, etc. as well as working under apprenticeship with a well-trained instructor. Kevin Scarborough, the owner/operator of Superior has 17 years in the industry with a great reputation for quality. He has attended courses, trade seminars, and invests in education every year on how to work on just about every new vehicle that comes off the assembly line.

What are warning signs of a dent scam artist?

Most dent techs will not approach you. Though we are passionate about our craft and sometimes see dents in cars we would love to remove (We can't help it! It's our calling!), it's rare that we go looking for work. We're usually busy! Being that many of us operate as mobile businesses, it may be understandable that the person approaching you does not have a street address for their business on their business card. All you may have is a phone number and a name with no way of knowing if their "business" is legit.

Check for reviews on Yelp, Google, etc. Do they have a website? Is their phone number legit? Ask to see before & afters. Whatever you do, don't listen to what they say - Look for the proof. Hands down, the most heartbreaking things we witness as dent techs are the results of these scam artists. We've seen them put putty on cars and tell the unsuspecting car owner that all they have to do is wipe it off in two days and the dent will be gone...The only thing that's long gone is the scam artist. Don't feel stupid if you've been had. These guys are very convincing, but if you're here right now wondering if you should call the number on the card in your hand from one of these guys...*Pshew*! You dodged a bullet. Please protect yourself as a consumer!

THE MAN BEHIND THE DENTS

Kevin Scarborough

Owner, Operator

Kevin Scarborough, a Southern California native and owner of Superior Paintless Dent Removal first learned about the trade in 2002. It wasn't until 2006 that he began practicing dent removal full-time. A former musician and born artist, the reward of returning a damaged car to its former glory by restoring its aesthetics was immensely appealing.

"I love what I do," Kevin says, "Not only is there the satisfaction of righting a wrong and reversing a blemish, but it's also very gratifying to see the reaction to my work when I'm able to restore someone's vehicle. It's kind of like a reverse art. I'm restoring a damaged canvas back to a clean one."

Kevin currently works out of the Temecula area where he enjoys spending time with his cats, his fiancé and their two children...but mostly his cat, Simba.

"Real men love cats," he insists.

THE WOMAN WHO PUTS UP WITH THE MAN

Kelly Conrey

Kelly is Kevin's fiancé and right-hand woman. She takes care of all the behind-the-scenes stuff at the Superior PDR office and is a freelance writer and musician in her spare time. She's a busy lady chasing Kevin's cats off counters, but an integral part of the Superior Paintless Dent Removal team.

"I am blown away by Kevin's work and dedication. Especially his loyalty and care for his clients. He treats absolutely everyone as if they were family. I've seen him go above and beyond so many times to help people. He's a genuine, honest person doing great work and I'm very proud to support him and Superior Paintless Dent Removal."

When Kevin actually has a day off work, she hopes they can get around to tying the knot.
